George W. Voss, 97 of Temperance, MI, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Ebeid Hospice Residence. Born July 29, 1918, he was the son of Eucdrit and Mary (Utman) Voss. A WWII Army veteran, he married Lois M. Hayward on January 28, 1943. George was employed as a mechanic for Chrysler (Jeep) Corporation for 38 1/2 years, retiring in 1980. He was the last charter member of the Bedford Township Fire Department and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Temperance. George enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, camping, and was an avid Tiger Fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Lois; children, Carol Smith, Beverly (Thomas) Kruse, Alan (Cindy) Voss, 14 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Schwarzkopf, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Friday, October 9, 2015, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 10, 2015. Interment will follow at Erie Union Cemetery.
